Free Silverlight 4 beta skin!

Update: The skin has been upgraded to Silverlight 4 final!

Update 2: This theme won an award!

We are playing with Silverlight 4 beta a lot at the moment, and one of its best features is the new Implicit Styles. This means that we can design a Silverlight theme for all the controls, and all developers have to do is include our supplied Resource Dictionary and all their controls will be skinned.

So we’ve made a theme called Blackspike, please download it and try it out on your project. Let me know if you find any bugs in the comments below.

Released under a Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 2.0 UK: England & Wales. You are free to copy, distribute, display, and perform(?) the work.

    Hello

Thanks for releasing this excellent skin. It looks awsome and it is exactly what I was looking for for my project. Unfortunately I have some problems using it. I can’t compile your solution. I’m using the current beta with VS2010 Beta 2.

A example of the errors I get:
Error 6 The type ‘sdk:TabItem’ was not found. Verify that you are not missing an assembly reference and that all referenced assemblies have been built. C:\Users\Peter\Documents\Blackspike Theme\blackspike theme\MainPage.xaml 96 8 blackspike theme

    Hope you can help me
    Kind regards,
    Peter

    Hello again
I wonder if the reason for my failures to build the solution is that you are using a Silverlight 4 beta build that is not yet publicly available? The latest build of the beta I’ve been able to find is 4.0.41108.0 while your project seems to be built against 4.0.50222.0.

Anyhow, I managed to make it build by changing all the sdk namespace references. It seems to work, apart from the ListBox that throws an exception when selecting a row. I guess that too is because of the version mismatch.

    Sincerely,
    Peter

I love this theme, but there are some problems when using drag-drop animations. “FocusVisualElement” is defined in the storyboard, but not in the template.

  5. Barry says:

Love the theme and have used it for my whole app. However, when I have tested the login control on a Business App it is throwing an exception:

    Cannot resolve TargetName contentPresenter

Any idea’s? I have been on with this all day to no avail.

    Many thanks in advance ……

I have just found something similar elsewhere and the problem seems to relate to VisualState Disabled. I have removed those references in the theme file and it now works fine temporarily. Will you have a chance to look into it?

    Cheers.

Hi guys, thanks for the feedback. I have upgraded the project from beta to Silverlight 4 final. I’ve also fixed the contentpresenter visual state issue. Let me know if you find more bugs!

  8. Excellent work!

The theme was wonderful, I’m fascinated by subjects in dark tones. The look was clean and modern.
I’m spreading your theme on my blog, also talks about Silverlight
    and design.

    Again, congratulations!

Great styles! one issue i have is that the childwindow does not skin at runtime but in blend ide it is skinned, no error msgs. any ideas? thaks

  10. Chris says:

in addition to my above comment on childwindows…

note that if i explicitly set a key on your stle and then manually apply to my childwindow, then it works just fine
